REFLECTIONS
In the month of September each students attended their first Educational Technology classes where they are assigned to different lecturers in different groups. I was introduced to Educational Technology by Mr. Rohan Simpson. Our first class we were asked to introduce ourselves; stating our names, where we are from and our expectations of doing this course. I introduced myself by saying "My name is Dionique Davidson. I am from the parish of Manchester, and I expected to get an A in this course. Majority of the said they just want to get an A while the minority stated they would love to know more about technology to enhance the teaching and learning process. In Educational Technology we were asked to create a Photostory, Interactive PowerPoint, Podcast and WebQuest. We did not create all at once, what we did was create them individually and in pairs. After which we were asked to incorporate each a lesson that was taught in pairs.
Creating the photostory was not an issue as our lecturer went through thoroughly and I was able to follow the instructions and create my photostory at the first try. The Interactive PowerPoint was somewhat a challenge as I had forgot on to the steps. I called on my class for assistance and she showed me another way I could do it without the steps. The Post was the easiest to create and I had some amount of exposure to Podcasting. I must say that of them all the WebQuest is definitely the most challenging one to create. I was experiencing some internet issue and I missed the class where my lecturer was going through. I was unable to access the recording as I am not registered on teams for the course. I tried to reach out to other persons but they were busy with other persons and creating their WebQuest. The site took forever to load. It took a while for me to finally create!
Kimberly and I worked together for the pair teaching. The preparation ran smoothly and when it was our time to teach, we did and it was a success. The learning objectives of the lesson where met, students participated throughout the lesson and was able to successfully complete the evaluation activity. I have learnt a lot from this course. It was the first team I heard about interactive PowerPoint and WebQuest. I have utilized all that I have learnt in this course in my other courses and my lecturers were fascinated with the creativity of the lessons. One lecturer asked me to show her how to create an interactive PowerPoint, I took the pleasure of teaching her. I managed to answer most if not all my weekly discussions when the forums were kind to me. I look forward to implementing these technological instrumental materials in my lesson to come. This is one of the most beneficial course I have ever done.
